Cam speedway heads
I have a GTA 1987 Trans am and I will want to add some more power.
This is a TPI system (converted to speed density) with K&N filter, 305 heads, headers, dynamax muffler and hi flow convertor. It has stock 700r4 trans and aluminum drive shaft. It has lowering springs and a phb by Hotchkis.
I dont know what power it has now but it ran 14.35 at the track. I would like to see it in the low 13's.
I just opened the differential cover, counted the gears on the Posi and figured it has 308 gears. It had 37 carrier and 12 pinion. Was that correct way to determine it?
I have heads on it that are from a 305 according to the cast numbers. According to the numbers the engine is a Canadian 5.7. I can get to numbers again if necessary.
I want to upgrade the heads. I was told that Vortec heads are a good option. But decided that the speedway heads may be a good choice. The heads 7222200 were recommended and will not need to be adapted to a new intake base. Is that correct? Can I up the head and cam without the intake change.
I would like to know what options I have for an aluminum set and a cam change to develop streetable 330 hp to 350 or a bit more.
