Battery tray swap

Hi,

I don't see a general 'Under the Hood' forum to post this to, if this is the wrong forum just tell me and I will post it in the right one.

I have a 1984 Z28 and I also have a NOS Battery tray with the mat fresh in a box. The tray on my car is on the passengers side. I've seen a few posts here and other places online that indicate the battery tray is tack welded to the car, as well as bolted down. I also have read that the tray is also being used as a kind of fender support.

My question is, as someone with no way to tack weld the new tray back in place, is it best to just spend some short money and bring my car to a welder to do this for me?

Thanks,

Shepp
