Mechanical fuel pump help
ok, so I know how to install it, or atleast I thought I did, the problem I'm having is, it's like the fuel push rod is not going high/far enough into the block for me to put the pump all the way to the plate.
A little background, I just swapped in a 350 to replace my 305. But I just swapped over my intake and my q-jet carb. the 350 is from a 78 C-10 that was also had a q-jet. It had a manual choke but I didn't think that would matter.
If anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it, as I would like to drive this car after it's been sittin for a week now. THANK YOU!!!

Try bumping the motor over.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump help
Spin the motor a little and grease up the rod before pushing it into the block, this should help keep it up out of the way when you install fuel pump.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump help
use a long handled breaker bar or wrench using a 5/8 on the center bolt in where the belt pulley is at the bottom of the front of the motor

B84 what cowboy posted is a good way to do it. If you don't have all the tools you can quickly hit the key until she rolls a little.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump help
Thanks guys. I ended up taking the spacer plate off of the block and let the rod fall down, out of the block. I figured I might as well check the rod to make sure it wasn't beant. All put back together now and no leaks. Thanks for the help.
