todays score, what ya think?

I got a deal on some used parts, not sure if there any good for my build so I'm lookin for opinions. I got a HEI distributor, no cap and kinda dirty. A 4 barrel carb quadrajet needs some reconditioning, a "dyna mod" distributor module, not sure if it even works. A flywheel/flexplate not sure how to tell the difference, not sure what it goes to but its stamped with "victory lane performance 13", a pair of header collectors. Got it all for a $20.

Good deal? Also does anybody know anything about the victory lane flywheel?
Or the dyna mod module?

Flex plate is thin & light-weight.
Flywheel is thick & heavy.

Get a manual and rebuild kit for the carb.
Clean the distributor, call a performance shop & see what it would cost to test it.

I'm having a heck of a time coding this quadrajet. Its stamped by Carter for GMC 17056600.

Flex plate has hole and mounting tabs for a torque converter.

HEI for $20 alone isn't bad... I've been running the same old one on a few different motors now.

Re: todays score, what ya think?

The Carter Q-jet was made by Carter for Rochester when Rochester could not keep up with demand.

17056600

170 = 1976 and newer
5 = 1976 - 1979
6 = 1976
6 = Varijet (2-bbl) Federal Standards
0 = Chevrolet
0 = Automatic Transmission

Are you sure that second 6 is a 6? A 4 barrel should be a 2 or a 5 depending if it's Federal or California standards.

Its clearly a 6 and a 4 barrel. That's what had me so confused.

Re: todays score, what ya think?

Doesn't really matter. The rest of the code says it's a 1976 q-jet. Only useful if you're building a numbers matching car or racing in something like Stock Eliminator where a date code means something.

Yeah. I guess that's true. I'm pretty excited to tear into it. Never rebuilt a carb before.
