Killing your car...not as easy as it sounds!
So I was going to tackle changing out the fuel filter today but I can't seem to find which fuse it is on my 87 Iroc. I was going to do the method of pulling the fuel pump fuse and then running the car to rid of all fuel and pressure in the lines so that I could safely remove it. So which fuse is it?

If you pull the fuel pump fuse car will not prime and i dont believe it will start. And if the pump is off any fuel in the line will not move to engine to let car run so that wont work like you describe. Only thing you can do is unscrew the filter and let excess drip out. Just make sure no siphon effect occurs and drains the tank

I definitely second the safety glasses comment. I got some brake fluid in my eyes a while back. Anytime i'm looking upward at any drip-able fluid.. i slip those on.

I've gotten gas in my eyes before from my LT1 T/A. The rail was still pressurized and it sprayed directly on my face. Press the shcrader valve in on the rail to release the pressure if your car is still fuel injected. Never had it siphon when I took the filter off. It drips for a few seconds and stops.
Your car is getting old, therefor it probably has surface rust under it. Totally use safety glasses, rust in the eyes sucks bad enough without any harmful fluids.

Yes off to the eye Doctor I went with a scratched eye ball. He dug the rust out and gave me some drops to kill the pain. Didn't sleep very good for a couple of nights.

Just remember, safety first. I know I'm probably like most of you guys and think "oh that won't happen to me" or "I don't have time to grab safety glasses/jack stands/etc". I've done a lot of unsafe or extremely stupid things (mainly in my earlier years of working on vehicles) and thankfully I am still healthy and in one piece. Truthfully, it takes longer to dig rust out of your eyes or go in to clean a serious wound than it does to go grab the proper safety equipment or tools.

Try putting a gallon of gasoline down too hard and getting a dripping faceful of Gasoline
in the eyes, nose, and your lips
Lmfao I swear my face felt like cooking oil was running/ dripping, thats when I found out how refined gasoline is, I'm glad nobody lit a match at that time
I swear I ran inside and washed out my eyes & face for 15 minutes with soap and after drying off with the towel, I swear my face felt crude after walking out, and somewhat reddish, all my buddies could do was laugh.

Another tip for when you change a fuel filter... tie a rag around your wrist. That way when the gas drips out it won't drip down your arm into your shirt.
Good luck! Sometimes those things can be a pain.
