350 engine timing

Hey guys, new to this site, but have a problem. i have a chevy 350 motor in my jeep wrangler. the motor has an edlebrock rpm cam and intake on it with a 670 holly truck avenger carb. right now to get it running decent my timing light shows 42.2 degrees advanced. what is my problem. the timing dots for the timing chain is lined up, put a new stock harmonic balancer on it. and have tried two differet distributers.

Re: 350 engine timing

the balancer is a stock on for the motor and the timing pointer is on the right side of the timing cover. also the stock timing chain cover.
