Your CTS may be further gone than mine was because mine would start functioning properly after it got the "rust" out in a week or two.
On the plus side, a new CTS is only a few dollars and it's only a few minutes to fix because it sits right up there on the front of the intake manifold. Literally, it's just a few minute's job (without even any bending over or hard-to-reach spots)... as quick as getting gas. Just be careful not to strip any threads because most likely it's been in there since '89 and use some sealant on the threads when you screw in the new one. You should be able to pick up the sensor and sealant at Canadian Tire... and install it on the parking lot.

Where in Newfoundland are you by the way? There aren't many IROCs on the island (never were).

I had another guy say its the coolant temp sensor...Your profile says Troy Michigan...But with the last name Butt and knowing about the "Island" I am thinking you are from the Northern Peninsula...And yes you are correct not many Iroc's around here...Larry

Re: weird issue
ok sounds real stupid but, cts are problematic and are cheap. my issue was like i said really stupid if the cts isnt the fix replace the starter my old setup cooked the starter and it wouldnt start right after it warmed up and i tired to restart after i shut the engine off i replaced the starter and shielded it correctly this time to ensure the heat wouldnt kill it then i have had no issues going forward but try the cts first its cheaper lol.

That should clear up immediately when the CTS is replaced.Perhaps the cold, damp climate in Newfoundland corrodes them more quickly. My first one lasted 7-8 years before it started acting up, then another 7-8 before I actually changed it.
