Going to gasket match my heads. Any suggestions?
I'm wanting to gasket match the intake ports on my heads. They are aluminum heads. I'm running a Vic. Jr. intake that was already gasket matched by the previous owner of it. The intake port on the head is smaller than the port on the intake, which I can only imagine creates turbulance at higher RPM. I'm not wanting to port the heads. Just match the intake and heads.
Can I leave the heads on? I was planning on just taking the rockers loose so the valves are closed and then stuffing the ports. Since I wont be going that deep into them, I can keep the rags near the end of the head.
Any certain bits I should use for this? Never done it before.

I would definitely take the heads off to do that, I really think it would be overkill for a mild street engine anyway, that's my opinion.

While my car isn't a dedicated track car, I don't think it's your typical mild street engine either. It's making over 400 horse. I don't drive it much, and have gotten an itch lately to see how fast I can get it to go. I just thought with the air hitting a small wall like that, that over 5000 rpm it would have to be hurting power. I go through the traps at 6500 right now, so it does spend some time in the upper rpm's.
I will consider removing the heads. Really don't want to because in the event of the gaskets marking the heads (shim gasket), it might take a few weeks to get money to have them shaved. But if I have to, I have to.

As far as what bits to use, it depends somewhat on how much material you need to remove. Assuming that your heads' intake ports are a Felpro 1204 and the Victor is a 1205, I would just use porting rolls. If the Victor is a 1206, first of all be sure that you can go that large on the heads without cutting through to a coolant passage. Then, start with an open flute(non ferrous metals) carbide to create the basic shape then switch to porting rolls.
Definitely remove the heads. The extra time you spend could save you serious heartache.

It's not to hard, but make sure you don't take off too much material. I'm not going to lie, i did a pretty bad job on my stocker 882's, but didn't care all that much either.
