strokin cranks
If you take a stock 5.7 LT1 and put a 383 stroker crank in it, WITHOUT boring it out,
What displacement does it end up as?
and............. i assume by stroking the motor, you'd -have- to change out the cam since the required duration would be different?

Re: strokin cranks
keep in mind that you will need to specify that you are going with a standard bore when you order the pistons.. you aren't gonna be able to jam the supplied .030 oversized pistons into a stock bore..
then after you take the block to the machine shop to get cleaned up and clearanced and what not, they will tell you that it needs to be bored, and you will need to get the proper .030 383 stroker pistons..
i guess what i'm saying is don't order any parts until you know what your block is going to need to be bored to..
and, no, you wont' "need" a cam with different duration, but you might need a cam with a smaller base circle for rod bolt clearance depending on which rods you use..
