do sbc headers fit on LT1s?
title pretty much explains it.
i'm wondering basically what headers will fit on an LT1 besides headers that specifically say LT1.
as you guys know, there are a lot of parts that are universal, though, some places will charge MORE for an "lt1" part and about half the price for an SBC part, simply because it sounds like it should be more expensive, despite they are the exact same part.
so.. just trying to do my due diligence before buying anything.

Yes, preferribly something 1.75"
Even some 1-5/8" thirdgen headers have been proven to completely cover LT1 ports.

ooooo ... contradicting answers....
not sure who to trust on this one, there is logic in both answers.
but... i can see i cant just.. order something off of ebay / buy a random set of craigslist headers and hope for the best.
any further explanation ?

Re: do sbc headers fit on LT1s?
wow.. to further complicate things, i did a bit of independent research on this and.... pretty much the same answers on every forum i've found...
YES.. they WILL.. or.. WONT they.. or will they.. maybe they will...... or they wont... they could... but may not... maybe they will and wont.. or could if they might want to maybe be.. if they are then they will if they wont...
Jesus... lol.. it's almost like no one has ever thought to put an LT1 in a 3rd gen camaro and come across this issue or something.... i'm fairly certain i'm not a pioneer in this area.
i know there is literature i just cant find it..
i also know that not every set of headers will fit in the car, so there is that to consider as well.
but.. also consider the fact i can weld and fabricate... -- and will have to do so to make the y-pipe work.
but... if i dont have to cut the headers i'd rather not.
so any ideas what people are using?
this is going to be a nightmare i can tell already. maybe i just need to see about making my own.

Re: do sbc headers fit on LT1s?
ok... so if i find 1.75" they will fit in theory....
the BOLT PATTERN is the same i guess? just gotta find some that cover the ports.
is that right?

Re: do sbc headers fit on LT1s?
Hey, uh, i've done this, multiple times
You asked the question and got an answer from someone who's already done it, you've also searched and found that people guessing at it say maybe maybenot, and then im sure you've found where others who have already done it, said yes.
SLP 1.75's fit
Hookers have been proven to fit.
I'm pretty sure if you get dyno don's headers he's got a D port option, which is probably the current best choice for shortys that will bolt up.
Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Re: do sbc headers fit on LT1s?
aren't the SLP 1.75's the ones that have been discontinued and are getting increasingly more difficult to find?
also, i saw somewhere that someone here either does or did at some point make SLP clones.. any ideas who that is? just curious.
still checking options, just being annoying about it because, i haaaattteee buying the wrong damn thing, and i only have so much money to spend.. i have to get it right the first time so i don't end up losing my @$$ on something.
