I calculated 309ci. But I think that 3.5 stroke is more like a 3.48, which would make it your run of the mill 305. That is unless it is stroked .02".....

You need to specify a little better, maybe some background on what you are specifically asking. I assume you mean 3.75 inch bore and 3.5 inch stroke. I think what you are asking about is a 305, 3.736 inch bore and 3.48 inch stroke.

Can see that it has been rebuilt.

It's a 305 bored .040 over. The bore is 3.775" and the stroke is 3.48", but you're not using measuring accurately enough to tell.

You don't have to do anything to find out, because it doesn't.

That IS English; had you been paying attention in school at any time since about the 6th grade, you'd recognize it instantly as the formula for the volume of a cylinder (times 8 of course, to make it a V8). I'm sad for you if you don't.Originally Posted by Apeiron

A .040" over 305 is about a 312.
Not enough different from what it started out as to be any kind of noticeable, in and of itself.

What's 80 cubic inches between friends, anyway?
Stock 305 is 3.736 bore with a 3.48" stroke. So 40-over is 3.776, like was said above. It also means the engine is already on it's 3rd life (stock bore, 30-over and finally 40-over). I wouldn't try 60-over with a stock block, nor is it cost effective to go through all that work when you could just build up a 350 (4" bore block) for the same money.
