Heater Issue.

Heater only blows air through dash window defroster and at my feet when i turn the air on to heater, but if i set it to any other controls (like Max, a/c, vent and Bi Level) it blows through the dash vents just fine. The weather is getting colder now and I want to get this fixed before i really need it. plus having warm feet does me no good when im freezing my a$$ off lol..

Anyone ever encounter this problem before? if so how do you fix it?

Re: Heater Issue.

Sounds like it's doing exactly what it did when it was brand new.

What are you expecting instead?

Re: Heater Issue.

Heater option doesn't blow through vents? (sorry I'm still getting familiarized with the car)

Re: Heater Issue.

Is it blowing strong or really weak? if its weak, you may want to look under the hood by the rear firewall for a small vacuum hose that could have gotten disconnected.

Re: Heater Issue.

It blows super strong to the bottom vent. But I could've sworn when I first got it the heat came out of the vents as well.. Maybe not.

It's possible that it did... I certainly can't argue that one way or the other... but that doesn't mean that's what it's "supposed to" do.

Re: Heater Issue.

I had a 84 camaro that wouldn't change right, sounded ike a vacuum leak at the heater control. I took it apart & smeared alittle dielectric grease on the vacuum switch. This switch can be taken apart, its like a sandwich.

He's talking about the little slider that sets the mode like OFF, MAX AC, VENT, HEATER, DEFROSTER. If you take the cover plate off the radio and heater controls, then you can remove the heater control and pull it out some to work on it. It has a valve mechanism inside that switches a vacuum signal as you slide the control. This controls the damper system that determines where the air comes out, top for defroster, dash vents for vent or a/c, bottom for heater. You can take this little mechanism apart and lubricate and seal it with dielectric grease and the damper stuff will work more reliably.
