My L89 keeps cutting out... HHEEELLPPPP
Ok here's the back story:
I had a problem with the car 2 weeks ago cutting out. It started one day after I put it in drive. It cut completely off & after a few times turning the key, it stuttered like it wasn't getting enough fuel. After I let the car sit for about 2 hours, it started right up & had no problems for a few days.
2 or 3 days later, I started off on a 100 mile trip & made it to my destination without incident. I started the car after an hour or so & drove to Autozone, came back out, hit the key & the car sputtered for a few rounds, then cut off. Shot to starter fluid in the TB, it ran long enough for the go juice to burn off & refused to start again. Diagnosed a bad fuel pump & replaced. Made my trip back home (about 100 miles) with no problems.
Yesterday, I was in route to class & about 1/2 mile from UAB, the car started to cut out again except I keep it putting until I get to the parking lot. Again, I let it sit for an hour or 2, come out & it runs fine.
Today, I leave the guitar shop, headed to the gun range, and I put the car in drive & it starts cutting out again. I played with the throttle to keep it somewhat running & every few seconds it would act "fine" and then go back to cutting out again. It did this for about 2 min while I was dodging Birmingham traffic during rush hour.
When I hit the throttle when its acting up, it acts like no fuel getting to the engine. It will idle but it's VERY rough, again, acting like no fuel is getting to the engine.
I'm not exactly sure WTF is going on but start shooting ideas my way please. It has to be something that is not making a good connection or something of that nature... PLEASE HELP ME lol

PS: my OBD will not connect to my computer for some reason so I can't look at codes... New fuel filter, no trash in the tank, fuel pressure good & stable when its running correctly... cant check it when it's screwing up

Have you taken a fuel pressure reading?
When you replaced the pump did you replace the filter?
Did you seal the tank properly?
Have you checked the cat for glowing?
Have you inspected the MAF and wiring?
Possibly test the ignition switch.
Idk, there are a lot of things. More info.

Fuel pressure is at 45
Yes I sealed the tank: new O-Ring around the sending unit
No cats, 3" from mid's back
MAF was just cleaned & the wiring looks great
What would I be checking the ignition switch for? it has power in & out...

Sounds to me like it's pulling rust or some sort of crap out of the fuel tank and clogging the fuel filter, that's why it ran fine at first. Have you removed and checked the fuel filter since you drove it the 100 miles back home?

I have not checked the fuel filter again. I'll check it out in the morning to see what the diagnosis looks like.
