Full lock issue

Hi Lads(and ladies)

Have a v6 Firebird with an issue Id like to get sorted if possible if anyone has any thoughts or maybe went through similiar

Basically at full lock/full turn of the steering wheel, the car struggles to drive, it feels like it is rubbing at the arches and goes really really slow if at all.......only a full lock, normal driving is fine no probs but the likes of tight turning or parking spot the above happens.

Tyres have been replaced to factory size, new balljoints, tierods, brake pipes, drop links.

It feels as though wheels are dragging it that makes sense, looked under can see nothing bent or warped, mechanic confused, also another 3rd gen owner confused.

If anyone has any idea of what could be or what might help Id be gratefull.

Thanks

Re: Full lock issue

This has to do with the suspension geometry and it normal/common on these cars. Check the suspension/chassis board here for lots of posts on this. IIRC, it has to do with the Akerman angles. Which is how one wheel turns to a different angle then the other as the steering is moved off the straight line position.

Re: Full lock issue

i thought that a crack in the fram by the steering box could be the cause of this also ?

Thanks Freaky, Since was pointed in right direction have done a bit of reading up, cant say Ive noticed but as its common I will give it a good check again.

Think will change out the control arm bushings and get one of those Wonderbars too see it helps.

Thanks Lads
