Re: what's the difference?

Oil pressure gauge range, tach (3 pulses per crank rev vs 4)

Re: what's the difference?

Oil pressure gauge range is 0-60 in V8s (in some years at least, not sure about 92); 0-80 in 6-cyls

Tach reads 1 rev for every 3 pulses (since half the cylinders fire in each revolution) from the distributor of a 6-cyl; 1 rev for every 4 pulses from the dist of a V8

Re: what's the difference?

Of course not. The tach will read 33.333% (8 ÷ 6) higher than actual engine RPM. Since these tachs always fail by reading high anyway, not a good idea.

The oil pressure gage though, if you put a 6-cyl sending unit in the V8 motor, that gauge will read right.
