Curious...how did yours go bad?....I mean, so long as the valve lash is set correctly, there's not too much that can go wrong with them.
I've had a set of Cranes in mine for several years now. No issues.

Re: Need retrofit hydraulic roller lifter advice.
I am at a loss, cos no matter what procedure I use to adjust the valves I still can't get rid of the chatter. Maybe I just got some bad lifters, I don't know. I did consider the Crane lifters before I bought what I did, but went with what I have because of who made these. Didn't figure I would have any issues. That's always my luck tho. Oh well, maybe I will try the Crane lifters this time.

Do you have full roller rockers? If so you probably wont get rid of the chatter completely. Thats just one of the trade offs. Some people say they are quieter but most say they can hear em more than the stamped steel factory ones. I know my roller rockers are a bit noisy but i just live with it since its not hurting anything.

Re: Need retrofit hydraulic roller lifter advice.
Actually, I do have full roller rockers. I'm running Harland Sharps on it. I thought of that too, but figured it something to do with the adjustment more than anything else. I wonder if some new ones like a set of Comp Ultra Pro Magnums would be better? They look to be lighter and stronger. It may be time for an upgrade anyways since my rockers have had a rough life.

Nope. Just your standard sbc roller rocker.

This is probably a stupid question but have you verified oil supply to the valvetrain?

Re: Need retrofit hydraulic roller lifter advice.
The car is down for the winter so I will have time to investigate more. Maybe I just need to start at the beginning and dot all my i's and cross all my t's just to make sure I haven't over looked anything. In some cases, it's usually the smallest detail that can cause the biggest headache.

Re: Need retrofit hydraulic roller lifter advice.
I had a noise problem 2 diff ways on 2 diff cars. 1 car, the rockers werent clearnced enough and would rub the valve spring retainer lightly, and another car, 406 with an F1R procharger, I used Comps and blew out the bearing in the roller part of the lifter twice. They would get a small amount of play and would rattle loud when fired. Just something to look at.
