How to protect starter wires from exhaust?

Since my engine swap has been completed Iv been scared about how close my starter wires are too my exhaust manifolds an y pipe, how do you guys keep your wires from getting to the exhaust? It seems like the loom and wires are against the pipe an I don't want to take the car out and have the wires get melted and leave me stranded. And I can't zip tie the wires away from the exhaust because there is nothing they for me to zip tie them too.

You can put your wires inside of heat or fire sleeves. Search Summit or Jeg's.

Re: How to protect starter wires from exhaust?

I first put the wires in plastic split loom. Then I covered the loom to protect it from heat with aluminum tape, about 2" wide with adhesive on one side. Got it from Home Depot. I went this route because the plastic loom insulates the wires well, the aluminum tape gives good heat protection, and in combination it's very easy to remove if you ever need to get in there.

Re: How to protect starter wires from exhaust?

the wires are loomed already, just alittle too close to comfort for me, i thought about using header wrap to wrap the wires since those are the only wires i have no( carbed motor) that i have anywhere near the exhaust.

Re: How to protect starter wires from exhaust?

a lot of cars and trucks came with a steel tube that bolted to either the closest bellhousing bolt or the solenoid mounting screw that routed the wires away from the exhaust and protected them, but you can generally just find a way to route them and maybe hold them up against something with a zip tie.
