new to this need some help, thanks
okay so i recently just bought my first third gen. its a 1984 camaro z28 with the 305 5 speed. the car is great but its developed a problem with the clutch. i cannot start it when i press the clutch, but it starts just fine if i touch the starter with a screw driver. also the previous owner was kind of a dumb *** and replaced the original 5 speed with a fourth gen 5 speed, the only problem with that is he got it from a wrecking yard and didnt rebuild it before install so it whines and makes other funny noises. should i just have it rebuilt or should i just get a original era transmission and put that in??
thanks.

thanks.

Dang man yours look a lot better than mine then when I bought mine...mine was a Piece of SH*T...but gradually ive been working on it...Ive put a lot of hours into and and dont forget the money..starting form my sound system, to the intake manifold...its a work in progress....
I really like the color of your car though the only difference with mine is thats it's white (obviously) and that I took the stock bumper off and threw on one of the late 1980's bumper on it..cant remember what year though.

follow the clutch pedal to a spot where the pedal ,when depressed pushes on a button (that is a neutral safety switch ) try pushing on that button with your finger and turn the key at the same time that should do it .if so look closer and yoy'll see it can be adjusted to contact the clutch pedal a little more , mine did the same thing . make sure its in neutral.

one more thing . I have a third gen 5 speed rebuilt with about 10 miles on it . If you have a manual from a 4th gen its most likely a 6 speed if so I'll swap even with shipping at my expense let me know

To make sure the switch is the problem, remove the connector to the switch and use a jumper wire between the contacts. If you can now start the car with the key the switch is the problem.
If you are looking at third gen v-6 five speeds, they require a different clutch disk and are probably not woth the effort.
Is your 4th gen tranny out of a v-6? Not sure about the clutch (trans. in-put spline count) on those.

ok try one more thing .on the pasanger side next to the rad , there is a block with 4 wires total 2 red 1 blk 1 orange its rite next to the batt there are 2 fuseable links check to make sure the conections are clean there is a nut holding the wires together remove the net sand the conestors reinstall the nut be carefull not to over titen the nut as the housing is plastic . if the fuse links are good and conections are clean and tite then it could be the ignition switch ( the one under the dash by the break pedal or the neutral switch Imentioned last time could be bad check those things and let me know . you'll get it. well just eliminate things one at a time . if you get frustrated walk away for a while...

Ive got an extra set of seats but REAR ONLY(2 bucket seat bottoms and complete back) that are a little dirty, but the exact same color and design as what you saw in my car's pic above. No tears or damage, just need some cleaning up. PM me if interested. Unfortunately do not have any front seats. I'd take $60 plus shipping from 40004
