carb and smog repair
ok, so im new to third gen but not to cars, I was a a dealer tech for 10 years until i recently switched careers. To quell any questions, tech's make dick compared to other manual labor jobs considering you have to invest nearly a quarter of your income to tool costs without reimbursement. So now I have a question: (yes I have already searched the forum, and know exactly how these systems operate with the exception of the prom to the carb.) I would like to know the inputs and the outputs for the carb on the 85 l69, i.e. what are the voltage and resistance specifications and parameters that the sensors on, in, works off of. Also, my smog pump is locking up, and since smog pumps have no use in a classic car where I live other than being outdated and looking ugly I am removing it. (please do not tell me how important the smog system is, it isn't, trust me. it's a cheat, plain and simple.) which headers are cost effective, cost and fitment to the third gen?

Re: carb and smog repair
what kind of problems are you having with the carb. just a few things to know. there is a tps, a fuel mixture solenid. the tps can be adjusted and replaced. the voltage for the tps is 5 volts at idle. you also need for all sensors to be working. if you have a ck engine light on fix it first. the carb can be adjusted as you would a normal 4 bbl. hope this helps.
Re: carb and smog repair
I don't have an engine light on, so no codes. I have a rich condition and especially so when the primaries are engaging only.I should probably rebuild, but I like to diagnose the problem correctly first.
