That will be the cheapest and easiest route. I have been down the road many times for customers.

Go with the truck shortblock (i get them lots cheaper than 2k) and put your heads/intake/cam on it. Done deal.
Or do the truck longblock, grab a SDPC vortec lower, decent cam and be done.
Not hard to keep it cheapish and add a lil power, if you want.
(i still have that intake) hes doing 350 shipped now.

It's been a long time coming, but finally got the bird back on the road yesterday. Ended up rebuilding the L98, bored .040 over, all new internals, mild Comp cam. She is running and sounding like a champ.
Wanted to close the loop on this thread (it's about time). Now have a lot of little things to do so will be searching and posting frequently.
