Clanking sound from engine
So just today I bought an 84 camaro because my firebird caught on fire.
I took the air cleaner off to look at it, then put it back on. When I went to drive away and put my foot down, the linkage jammed.
I got on the clutch and the motor revve'd up waaaay too much extremely fast.
I shut it off as quick as I could, but now it is making a serious clanking noise. It doesnt sound like a rod knock, alot more serious then just valve tick, and it still runs. I cant tell exactly where from, what should I look for?

It don't sound good for the home team.
Broken crank, broken rod, etc. Can't be good.
Best not to run it any more until you find the source; the more you run it the more stuff it'll tear up.

How do I begin doing that? Would the only way be to tear apart the whole engine?

Pull motor. Pull pan and valve covers. Inspect clutch. Pull valve covers before yanking out and check rockers and pushrods.
