cam "upgrade"
Had to replace the original cam in my '82, LG4 engine. What was put in was a CS274. I understand this to be a stock replacement cam and by no means a high performance item. Tune up was done at the same time. Other than having the original cat replaced (did help it breath) and running a K&N filter this is all stock. Looking at the specs though the 274 seems to be a better cam. Being a low compression 305 this might be as much as you would go?
Question is, will a dual snorkel air cleaner and headers and better/bigger exhaust help this engine? Or is there no need for that?
Thanks,
Ron

I don't think you can go wrong with that setup, from what I have gathered for my own ideas for a 305 is whatever you can do to free up more air intake/exhaust you are going to add power. How much ? That is hard to quantify, but my guess would be around 30 hp for new headers, free flowing exhaust, and additional air intake via the dual snorkel.
