Air cleaner help

So i bought a Pro Form air cleaner because it looks real good, and from everything i have read open element air cleaners are a very good upgrade for a single snorkel like my LO3 has. You can see it below

http://www.proformparts.com/product-...ategory_id/114

It's a 14x3 air cleaner with a 1.5" dropped base.

It fits the spacer flange on the TBI unit fine, but the but the back of the air cleaner sits on top of the plug in the ignition coil, and the stud coming out of the TBI is barely too short for the bow-tie wing nut the air cleaner came with. Is there anything I can do to make this air cleaner fit without turning it into a hack job? Also what do i need to get to plug the hole from the exhaust manifold that the metal tube rain down to from the original air cleaner snorkel? Thanks for all your help.

Re: Air cleaner help

just find a piece of threaded rod ( available just about anywhere) as long as it is 1/4x20 thread. screw into TB with a nut that matches the thread and measure where you want to cut it.unscrew nut and install air cleaner.

that metal tube that went from the manifold to the air cleaner doesn't need to be plugged up.

Re: Air cleaner help

You can either dent the air cleaner base to clear the coil, relocate the coil, or bend the mounting bracket to tilt the coil for clearance.
