Help! Car Wont Start.

I got a 1987 Trans Am GTA for a project car and it wont start. I got the battery tested and it was crap but the alternator passed and is good. The gauges light up but the car wont start or even make any noises like it wants to start. I dont know what to do now. This is my first project car but my second TA(had one as a teen in high school). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ignition switch, connection at starter, ground connection at alternator (I assuming you took it off to get it tested) check these

What he said. If you have a helper and can get under the car, have the helper turn and hold the key in start position while you check for power at the starter solenoid. If you're getting power at the solenoid, that will eliminate the switch, and you can start checking grounds, but more than likely if it was working and it just stopped it will be a bad starter.

no problem with being a weekend warrior. took me a month to do what it takes most people 2 days. Only get to work on something a few hours at most a week if i'm lucky.
