What's up everyone this is my first post and probably most needful I just bought an 89 formula firebird with a 305 tune port injection. I bought it yesterday and everything was well lots of power. Today I drove to school and on my way home opened it up a little and the car started to hesitate or stall. Once I get past 2 rpm it will just die. Then it wouldn't start so I pushed it to my local shop and they said they would give it a look and call back soon. I feel like its fuel or spark is the pump going bad? It idles fine and then past 2k rpm like I said stalls I think its not getting fuel. Any ideas its my first car and I love it to death ive worked on cars before but I'm not a genius any help is appreciated. Thanks guys. O and it started up again and idled once I got it to the shop but did same thing. Sorry to make it so long.

 

Could be a nmber of things, a good shop should go through it to diagnois.

I Did taken it to local shop just don't want them screwing me over. Really trying to get into cars and learn. But check engine light popped on. Hopefully nothing big and something I can do myself

 

First thing I would do, is pull the code. That can tell you a lot.

Buy a repair manual if you don't have one, you can even get a cd rom version on ebay.

 

I also forgot to mention if I press clutch in or put it in neutral it will rev all the way up to its redline with no hesitation well over 2k rpm. but in gear with a load on the engine it will hesitate and buck. No more than 1500 rpm or it will stall. Gona try and wrench a little tomorrow
