Friend has 1988 TransAm stock 305 LO3, auto. Had new gas tank and fuel pump installed. Drove car around town shopping. Starting and stopping about 6 time. (about 20 miles). Drove home and stut it down for about an hour. Went to start it up and won't start. Engine turn over normal. Can hear fuel pump kick on and off when turning on ignition. Checked fire to engine, none, Nothing to distributor, plugs, TBI. Installed new coil, still nothing. Removed battery ground wire for 5 minutes. Reinstalled Wire, nothing. All the accesories, headlights, and dash works. No codes before engine was turned off. Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

 

If you have no "fire" of course it won't run. Work backards. If no spark at the plugs, check for spark at the coil with a spark tester or an old plug.

 

Ok, there is no "spark", electical current, juice, ect., to Coil, Spark plugs, Distributor, Injectors, ect, "nothing. Starting and running fine before shutdown.

 

check the ICM and the pick up in the distributor.

 

The Car is fixed. Wires to pickup in Distributor broke and shorted the Pickup. Fixed wire, had to replace pickup, running great.
