I have a 82 trans am. with 305 V8 and carburator (holley) and edelbrock intake manifold. Tried to fix some other things when i discovered this hose.
It is coming from the driver's side valve cover. Where should I connect it?

Air cleaner
It's the make-up air to replace what the PCV sucks out of the crankcase

Not sure but I think it goes into the air cleaner. its part of the pcv system.
Thank you for quick replies. The thing is my air cleaner is from weiand. I don't recall seeing a place to connect a hose on it. Any suggestions on what to do? It looks like this:

oh damn a fly eye, remove that POS! They catch fire, the foam becomes brittle and gets sucked into the carb. Get a proper air cleaner...anything but that

I agree with Twin_Turbo, get rid of it! My buddy had one and it caught on fire, did some major damage.
hmmm.. that does not sound too good. any suggestions that will fit in my car and with my carb? (and that i can connect my loose pcb-valve hose to?
Thank you for all your help so far btw!

Mine goes to the back of the carb or intake I can't remember. Anything with vacuum should work.Originally Posted by kissedin

It doesn't get vacuum. It's make-up air.
Get that other thing off of your car!!!! It's a fire hazard waiting to happen. That's for cars that don't run, but all they do is sit around in parking lots in sq-in-of-chrome contests, for the 8-yr-olds to oooh and aaaah over. ABSOLUTELY NOT for engines that are actually started, and above all, NOT "performance" in any manner way shape or form.

all that, and it's sitting right up against the bottom of the hood.. not a lot of air can flow thru it that way..Originally Posted by sofakingdom

A thought that striked me;
would a stock fbody filter fit with my holley 600 carb?
Maybe this is a good alternative?

I would run as big as you can get away with. If you use a 14" element with a 1.25" drop base you should be able to put 2.25" filter on it. This would be a lot more filter area. Perhaps a 2.25" K&N with an open top element would be a good fit.Originally Posted by kissedin

As for the element size I believe Holley is 5.125" where the cleaner comes to the carb. Any element that meets that requirement would work.
Ok. Now it's replaced. Bought a 14" edelbrock aircleaner with 3" filter. First i thought it would be to tall, but measured and now everything is in place and running. Thank you for all your help!

Im thinking of deleting mine that goes to the air cleaner. Good or bad ? Can i just put a breather filter there in its place ?

Bad idea, if you leave it open the engine will suck dusty air into it. Using a breather/filter would be ok.
