The centrifugal advance would not work lack of timing lack of power

Makes since. I pulled my distributer out of my motor to fix an oil leak and put a new cap and button on my distributer and when I took off the button I noticed that its missing a whole weight and spring.

Re: running hei with only 1 weight?
No it won't hurt your motor (unless the weight or spring
fell down into the motor internals).
You just won't have any mechanical timing advance just the
vacuum advance.
The only down side would possibly be hesitation or lack of
performance to a small degree.

Re: running hei with only 1 weight?
Continued operation with one weight missing would lead to destruction of the dist shaft and housing due to running the shaft out of balance.

Distributer is pulled out of the motor. I was just wanting to make sure I didn't hurt my motor while it was running before I found it.
