water pump or tstat

water pump or tstat

so my car decided to overheat on me today
theres plenty of water. i checked after it cooled down and started again and overheated. i dont wanna change out both if i dont have too
how do you know which one went to look for

the reseviour was bubbling, or boiling if you will and overflowing. i dont see any water coming from the water pump.

Start by pressure checking the cooling system, you can rent those at autozone.

Tstats are cheap, and easier than a pump. Is there any AF coming out of the tell tale hole on the pump ?
If bearings in pump are shot, it allows AF to flow out the hole ... indicating its failing.
