Re: no oil at rockers

They should not be pouring out oil, just a dribble.
I would say plugged lifters on an old sludge filled engine.
I don't know on a new engine. I cant imagine you got 15 defective lifters. (I assume you got new lifters).
Did you check the pushrods to make sure they aren't plugged or packed full of assembly lube?

Re: no oil at rockers

How little oil is no oil? At low idle, there should be very little but still should have some oil. It will probably be messy but see if any oil gets to the top at around 1000 rpm.

No oil is zero oil nothing nadda zip no where to be seen, if i recall it was #3 exhaust had some and it was so little that when i had them fancy clip on rocker oil deflectors to adjust the rocker arms that got no oil aswell, oh hydraulic tappet cam and that was around 800rpm i can try bumpin to 1200. The top end used to have good oil at 500rpm.

Re: no oil at rockers

When you primed the oild pump before your first start up, did you get oil coming out the pushrods?

If not, then you should have investigated before start up.

If so, and not now, something has plugged an oil feed hole, access silicone sealer can do this.

Before you assembled the block did you clean it?

Re: no oil at rockers

Well i tried adding more oil to see if sump fell off or came loose, bumped rpms to 1200, now the one rocker that had oil is no longer getting oil. 60psi oil at idle when engine got to running temp psi would drop off next to nothing, mechanical gauge.

Re: no oil at rockers

Sounds like a spun or severely worn bearing.

Re: no oil at rockers

No noises from engine so i am starting to think the cam bearings never got replaced along with maybe a weak oil pump, supposedly the block is out of a 79 camaro so possibly original pump and cam bearings, idk.

Yikes! Never do a rebuild without changing the cam bearings!
Oil pumps are also cheap for SBC, so I always replace them to.
