Best Orifice tube?

Just got done assembling my new ac system. Right now it has the stock white Orifice tube but I have seen people talk about using an orange or blue tube.

Right now the system has not yet been charged vaccumed down so it wouldn't be a problem to swap for a different tube.

I was just wondering what if any benefits would a different type of Orifice tube provide.

Re: Best Orifice tube?

The orifice tube sets the flow rate of the refrigerant, and thus a whole laundry list of compromises; high-speed vs low-speed cooling, head pressure vs efficiency, and so on.

The white tube is correct for R-12 in a GM R-12 system. The others give better performance with R-134A in a GM R-12 system. They simply work BETTER, all around. More suited to the evaporative properties of the different chemical.

Which one would you recommend and what vehicle could it be looked up under?

I usually use the red/orange one. Fits Frod; ask for like a 96 Crown Vic.

I've been told the blue one works well also but I've never tried it. Don't know exactly what Frod it fits.

Many thanks! I still have to replace the high side schrader valve so I will swap it at the same time.
