OK i have a 1991 rs tbi the head gaskets went bad because of a faulty fan. i did the job and shes all back together and wont crank. the strange thing is i have no warning lights on the dash when i try to crank it. no check engine no security, all i get is the seat belt and the brake light when i turn the key. there is no draw on the battery when i turn the key either. all i have is the radio, windows, ect. is this a ecu problem? it cranked no problem before i tore down the engine. i checked the fuse by the fender and fuses under the dash, i cant figure it out and im losing hope. please help me keep this car.

Sounds like you missed a ground in assembly. Rear of the passenger side head?

i have the grounds on the driverside ,the strap on the passenger side and the main battery ground all connected.

i cant even fathom what it could be. i love this car to death but its fighting me to stay off the road

If your engine wiring is all good , then more likely to be a Ign switch problem
ECM has nothing to do with dash lights or starter.
Check it is being operated by the key ( can go out of adjustment )
measure the voltage into , and out of switch when it is in Run and Start positions

I thought it maybe had something to do with the computer because there is no fuel either. the pump doesn't come on, I will check the switch but it was working perfect before the heads , never even had a vats issue thanks for the tip I will post what happens

If the Ign switch is not supplying power to the ECM it won't work either will it ? ( the ECM runs the pump for 2 sec ; key on )

VATS takes out the starter and the injectors so if only VATS was at fault the dash would still light up ; key on.
All you would get is no crank in Start

ok so I haven't had any luck but I have noticed a few new things. along with no warning lights when the key is first turned I have noticed the ac and the engine cooling fans have no power to them either. so essentially all I have is radio, windows, and wipers. no power anywhere else. im totally stumped
