ran out of gas and now no start.
Having an issue. Ran my car out of gas yesterday and had to push it into a parking lot. After I got it in the parking lot I put $25 worth of gas in it and let the pump prime and tried to start the car, no dice. Well I took off the line going go my fuel pump under the hood and turned the key on and my pump still wasn't pumping gas. Well I got it towed home. And tried blowing air through the line going to the tank and couldn't get any air to push through. So I though clogged fuel filter. So today I crawled under my car, got the rail fuel filter off and blew through the line using compressed air and got the line from the engine back to the filter cleaned out. But when I try to blow compressed air in the line going from the filter to the tank I can't get it to push through either. Now the way I have my car rigged for now is I have the stock in tank pump still in the tank, fuel filter on the rail, and a carb pressure fuelpump under the hood sucking fuel through the in tank pump and filter. Doss it sound like the sock is clogged or fell off? Should I be able to push pressurised air through the the like going to the tank?

Re: ran out of gas and now no start.

That would be dead wrong for starters because in-tank pumps are not designed to sucked through .
There is a one way valve on the in-tank pump to prevent the fuel pressure built up by the EFI pump bleeding off back to the tank so that should prevent air flowing to tank as well
Try sucking on the line instead
