Check your spark plug wires, and then double check your spark plug wires
Re: crank - no start

Re: crank - no start
If its cranking and not firing it's your timing when you pulled dist out its out of whack, can't go by timing mark if your balancer is old, take driver side valve cover off, get a 5/8 socket and breaker bar hand crank engine when second valve is at

Check your fuses, and I changed all of that stuff too, and still had my
Timing off, it's never a bad Idea to take of four 3/8 bolts off the valve cover and reset tdc so you know you're positive

Got tdc seems that cranking the old starter with the new batter killed my new battery even though it read 11.8v but I had ot tested and it was at 10% charge new dmm might be next but now it starts and runs but idle is back at 2k and if I back it down to 800 it won't start actually it won't start unless its at 2k this is starting to get on my nerves

Re: crank - no start
What is your timing set at ?
What dizzy ?
To set the idle at 2K you are opening the butterflies, so if it won't start with the butterflies at the proper idle setting then you have a air / fuel problem.
Is carb (what carb ) jetted for engine ( has this carb been run on this engine before ? )

Re: crank - no start
The plugs are black and a little moist i was running rich I got it to run I got the distributor set and clamped down able to start and cut off no problem took it out for a test run and drove about 20 mins then the car started over heating I know the fan didn't kick on so I need to check the fan motor and relay went back to get the car after 5 hours of cooling down and now it won't start again tried turning the dist while cranking and nothing it'll catch but as soon as I get off the key and stop cranking it cuts out ..... ignition switch maybe ? But the ignition switch is also new i don't know of cranking too many times will kill it though .... seems like one problem gets fixed and another rises ......any ideas or help ?
