distributor problem

distributor problem

84 trans am 305HO 700r4 computer controlled carb and dist

Problem: I set timing everuthing is on point but when I reconnect the 4 pin connector after timing is set the car shuts off I was told tge diatributor is bad any ideas or suggestions on what to check to verify the distributor is bad or what else could be causing the problem and what else to check thanks in advance for any input given

The dist is probably fine

Check the rotor, make sure the little contact end isn't pushed off to the side

Checked the contact on the rotor and the contacts in the cap and all are fine no carbon tracking and nothing is bent or out of place

Anyone else have any ideas as to why the car shuts off when the 4 pin connector gets connecter on my cc distributor .....?
