Heater Core bypass question

Hey guys,

Im leaking coolant on the passanger side so im assuming thats my heater core. Ive looked the hoses at the firewall and at the 2 ports on the engine as a temperary fix until I can get a new heater core. Now here my question:

Im still leaking coolant in the cab and on the rode when i go for a drive longer than 20 minutes. Is that coolant left over in the heater core that didnt come out when i blew on the hose? Or is this another problem that im not aware of?

PS I searched this issue on the forums and found many related problems but nothing on this problem after the temp fix.

You can get a plastic connector to connect the two hoses that go to the heater core. My local Napa store had a box of them behind the counter so I suspect it's not uncommon. Any coolant left in the core may leak depending on where the leak is but it won't be under pressure any more. Mine leaked all in one shot after the bypass so only one clean up.

Re: Heater Core bypass question

Probably what's left in the core coming out as it sloshes around. A coreful of coolant will pretty much cover the whole passenger side floor pan. There's nowhere else for it to come from. Until you can remove it you'll just have to keep mopping. Maybe stuff towels under it.
