issue with my new engine

First off here our the specs of my engine... I got a 350 out of a 74 truck, bored it 30 over to a 355 I am running flat top pistons with a xe 268 with machined vortec head and springs to give me higher lift my intake manifold is the cyclone the carb is a summit 600cfm
.. this is a 87 iroc which originally had a 305

Now is time for my problem.. I completed the build and break into day so I thought I take it for a lap around block. So when I hoped in it car started right up. But when I put it in gear rpms dropped real low and car stalled out. Then I adjust the carb a bit to increase my idle and try again... Again the car fired right up but it in gear rpms dropped again but it stayed running but as soon as it went in gear I lost my power brakes. I am thinking vacuum leak I checked all the lines and every thing seems to be connected or blocked off.

I did pull off the vacuum line to the brake booster while it was running to see if could feel vacuum (which I did) the funny thing is that when I pulled the line it did not effect the idle at all.

Like I said earlier I have a ruff idle but not to to bad the engine seems to wanna idle at around 1100 rpms which I know is a little high. was spraying areas with starter fluid to check for leaks but i ran out so I am thinking about pulling intake off re installing carb and redoing all vacuum lines... just to make sure I get it

Ps sorry I wrote I book here I just wanted to share as much info as I could

Do u think this is over kill ... Does anyone have any advice or ideas?

Re: issue with my new engine

Try a soapy water solution to check for leaks, run more initial advance say 15 btc.

^^^ This

Maybe even more than 15°, considering that the timing mark could be randomly out of whack just about anywhere. I'd say, advance it until it pings, then back it off til it quits; won't necessarily be "right" by any means, that's not a "correct" means of setting it, but it's ALOT closer than "marks" and "lights" usually are, and it'll sure tell you if you're even in the ballpark or not. The general idea is, listen to the ENGINE and let IT tell YOU where IT likes it instead of YOU telling the ENGINE where YOU think it should be.

Next, visit the "Holley Tuning" sticky at the top of the carb board, and follow it from start to finish, as a complete process. (not just pick some random thing to dink with and then wonder why it didn't really help)
