top mount supercharger install on a stock 2.8L. Good idea?
My friend gave me a great condition top mount style supercharger from a GM V8 motor and I'm trying to figure out if it will work on my 2.8L. All I have is the supercharger itself so I need some expertise in what I will need to make this work. If it will work. I will post some pics of the supercharger tomorrow so accurate help can be given. Thanks.

It's going to take a ton of cash to do right - You'll need to cast and machine a supercharger intake manifold that will bolt up to the 2.8L V6's heads and bolt up to the supercharger's base. Also it has to align the pulleys to where the supercharger can be driven off the crank.
I've seen odd combos and if you're good at welding aluminum then sometimes you can take a stock aluminum manifold and cut it and fab up a way to attach a supercharger baseplate to it. Those are more for "looks" rather than performance.
Remember the 2.8L has a reputation for cracking heads and blowing headgaskets stock - add boost to that and you're going to be replacing heads and headgaskets often.
As they say - is the juice worth the squeeze?
My recommendation - sell the supercharger to someone for cash and pick up a 350/700R4 combo and put it in place of the 2.8 - heck if the supercharger is complete and in good shape someone might even trade straight up for it...

i've seen pics on teh internets of people that have mounted one of those 3800 superchargers on fwd 3.1 engines by just cutting a hole in the top of the plenum and bolting it there... i don't know how well it worked, but it sure looked impressive..
