Do you acknowledge other third gen drivers on the road?
Do you acknowledge other third gen drivers on the road?
Only do it to other Iroc-Z's. My heart literally is racing as I panic to roll down my window to wave before they pass. Its like seeing a long lost friend. I only see maybe 1 or 2 a month so its a big deal. Maybe its just me.

I give a wave or thumbs up.
Mostly I get the " Who the F are you? " look back!
Once in a while I get some sort of nod or wave back.

No. Most I ever see on the road arent in the best shape. Not worthy of a thumbs up.
Then if I do see one that is nice while Im in mine, Im too embarrassed about how mine looks to thumbs up the other guy, lol.
This would probably be better off in another subforum.

Haha, I sometimes go through the same thought process but usually my exhaust sound helps me out.

I don't even acknowledge other drivers on the road..........
Re: Do you acknowledge other third gen drivers on the road?
I always check other cars out. Not just third gens, but any classic GM.(not so much for fords except first gen stangs) I will walk up and talk to anyone in a nice third gen and and ask if they are on TGO,get an idea of what they went through with it. The rumble of a nice sounding engine always turns my head. Daughter rolls her eyes, but I'll pull in a parking lot and do an walk around if I see one while we're out. I think it makes someones day to let them know you may appreciate thier car as much as they do.

To all the decent guys, I find that most of the other third gen owners around here are not even aware of TGO, because that's always the first thing I ask.

You make me ashamed to be active in the same forum, thinking you're all superior just because you got lucky while some of us are saving up for ground effects, paint and wheels.

Re: Do you acknowledge other third gen drivers on the road?
For cosmick and internal vortex. You can tell when someone has pride in their car, whether it's pristine, or under construction. The sterotypical mismatched panels that are beat up and chin spoiler dragging the ground, no exhaust(I call a hillbilly hotrod) running on all 3 cylinders are the ones that give us a bad name. But I'm sure most of them still look at a good example of a 3rd gen and think what could possibly be. Restoring any car is not a poor mans game. It takes a lot of money, time and effort.

If the driver looks like a gear-head, I try to do honor to the brotherhood.
If it looks like some ditz on a cellphone, I groan and keep moving.
I got kudos this week from a young fella driving a red Gen 5 with his 10-ish son in the shotgun. That was pretty cool.
My car will never be "mint." I'm digging the "rat rod" vibe with the red 88.

I do as i rarely see thirdgens around either. I did have one pull up to me at a gas station though and though i always think of mine to be at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to looks i always get compliments on it, even with the missing gfx.

Hardly see any around here as well. Most are beat up and you can tell the owner donesnt care about it. The couple of cars I have seen in passing I wave but no response. My dd is a wrangler and the jeep crowd waves all the time. I may pass 5-10 in my days travel and get acknowledged everytime lol.
