Tach not working. White wire from coil cut???
Ok long story short. I bought a 92 camaro RS 305 tbi like 6 months ago. The tach never worked. The guy said it was a bad cluster. Well I tried multiple clusters and it was a no go. Still never worked. I notice often at idle that the needle will slightly move like a poor connection. Tonight I got curious and checked out my distributer and coil. I saw a white wire that had a 2 wire connector coming from the coil. It went 3 inches then was wrapped in electrical tape and I uncovered a butt connector. Well I gave a little tug on the rigged "unit" and the white wire seperated from the rest going toward the firewall. There's also an in-line single wire connector headed toward the fire wall. I'm going to patch up the wire but what do I do if that doesn't fix my issue??

Fix this connection first and see what happens. This will determine the next step if necessary.

Tach still doesn't work. I get power to the wire from the coil. No tach though. What's next? There's a little grey in line connector too? I cleaned the terminals and tried. No good

Maybe my ignition coil is bad. Not sending enough voltage to the cluster? With the car running I was able to twist the wires together by hand to test the tach, I wasn't even getting a shock or anything?
