Steering column issue
Hello everyone, just recently joined the forum and just recently got a 92 camaro RS 3.1v6 for 900, its got a few issues which I cant figure out.
Mainly, the steering column is loose, doesn't lock, can move it up and down freely, and there's also a bit of play to the wheel. Additionally, when turning sharply theres a noticable cracking sound, and I cant figure out whats going on with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Here's some pics of the car although they dont really show much in relation to the issue. - http://imgur.com/a/bwXd7 -

As for it not locking in place that seems odd, perhaps a previous owner took the column apart to investigate and pulled the lock teeth apart and didn't put them back in correctly? The wheel is always in the most upright position?
If it's the loose tooth column maybe one or more of the bolts backed out completely and are binding up while you're turning and that is the cracking sound you're getting?

Wheel is always in the most downright position, and it moves very slightly side to side, but can freely move it on its full range of motion up and down, and then if i let go of it it just drops all the way down. It does not pull outward at all, so it's still being secured by something at least.
