trying to put together a 383 on a Budget, Super chevy has used their 383 kit in a build once before and vouched for it so ill Definitely be getting that, just wondering if the heads are any good as well

I know what the intake is a copy of its no different than what pro products offers which actually is neck and neck or even better flow wise. My question was regarding the heads

Quality wise how are they? How are the castings? Porous? Prone to cracking?

The seem to have very similar specs to the procomp heads. Most of the complaints from the procomp heads have to do with the hardware used to make them. The castings seem ok but they seem to perform poorly under 500 lift.

I think you can get these at Walmart, same aisle as the cheap patio furniture and TVs.


As with all things in life you need to weigh the allure of that cheap price versus the life cycle of the part.

A stock to mild build you might be just fine... but I would not build a race engine with cheap Chinese castings. because that will come back to haunt you.

Looking at their flow numbers I am sure they are procomp.

First thing I notice is their mid lift number suck and for 190cc intake ports they should flow at least 240 at 500 not 600.

Bone stock vortec heads with 170CC chambers flow better until you get over 500 and flow way better below that.

OK. Worked over Vortecs would be what these would be replacing so that decides it.

Was hoping the switch to aluminum would allow for a little more compression but I won't if it means sacrificing mid range

I have not decided yet, hyd roller of some sort, as aggressive as I can possibly run with a stock converter

Good cam, near 500 max lift I think the vortecs would be a much better choice. Maybe punch the exhaust valve out for a 1.6 and call it a day.

I've bowl blended the Vortecs and will be doing a little port work as well thank midi as for the info, its been helpful.
