intake manifold splash shield?

Hey guys, my buddy has a intake manifold off a early 70s chevy truck hes installing onto a newer sbc, and it has the splash shield under it, what would be the pros and cons of taking it off? or could you even run without it? thanks

Re: intake manifold splash shield?

Why wold you want to remove it ? It can't be seen
Many stock intakes have one
It is there to keep the hot oil heating up the intake and burning on the hot EGR crossover if the intake has one

take it off, clean the crud from behind it, tap the holes and put it back on.
