EGR solenoid bypassed problem?

Troubleshooting my car running rich. She will not idel down. sits at 850-900rpm evan after setting and replacing TPS IAC MAF relays o2 sensor and fuel pump. I have good fuel pressure fires up no problem hot or cold.

only code I get is code 34 I think bad maf

car will not go into closed loop because it is so rich the tunerpro reads lean for unburned fuel I think

so tracing vacuum lines I figure I have to have a big leak.

So I replaced coild and found the egr solenoid was disconnected from the sensor. Both vacuum lines are hooked up though. I trace one line under the manifold looks but cannot see where it hooks up. The EGR valve appears to have an orange bvac line though that might be directly hooked up to the manifold so it always has vaccum?

is that bad?

also on the output of the solenoid there is no line hooked up. it looks plugged but I assume that went to the egr normally?

also there are 2 lines that go into solenoid valve but 1 looks like it has an open port in front of it? what is this for?

oh it is 88 iroc tpi

What is this " sensor " you speak of?
The vac line should go to the EGR solenoid then to the EGR valve

If the valve has vac all the time then it will be open when it shouldn't ,possibly your idle problem?
EGR only operates at certain programmed times when you are driving, not at idle .
Disconnect and plug the vac line going to the valve and see if anything changes
IIRC , there was a foam breather on one of the solenoid ports

Re: EGR solenoid bypassed problem?

I mean the EGR solenoid mounted underneath the coil and dist.
It is odd shaped device that has a 2 prong plug, 2 angled vac ports coming into it and one port (or something?)

the plug was not attached (but I get no codes)
both vac ports were attached but I suspect they might be open under the manifold or routed wrong
the 3rd outgoing port is not hooked up? what is this maybe for a anotehr vac line or filter?

yes if it is on all the time with vac direct to manifold it would screw idle up but I would suspect it would stumble and stall. my car seems to start up no problem just idles high and rich (could be fouled plugs, weak spark some vac leak)
