This screws into the side of the EGR valve and there was a wire off the top of it going under the solenoid somewhere.
What is its function and is it absolutely necessary?
The Silver adapter is part of the new EGR valve. I broke it off, hardly even had any pressure on the wrench tightening it, but anyways...
Thanks

thats the temp switch for the EGR valve. and yeah , its needed
Ok thanks Rusty. By not having it hooked up would it cause the Car to have a hesitation /Sputter when I apply the Gas pedal?
And I am not getting no codes.

Does anyone know if this temp switch missing will cause the car to run rough?
I am going to order one regardless cause it's missing.
I doubt it but not 100% sure!
The Car is running like crap. I work away from home so like to line up parts a week before hand.
I will be replacing the Cat as well since I took some pieces out the outlet side that were broke up.
Thanks.

It's strange (or maybe not) that without the EGR temp sensor you're not getting any trouble codes; you should be.
When the ECU tells the EGR to open, it looks for a temperature rise from the sensor to confirm that it is indeed open. If it doesn't see a temperature rise (in the form of an electrical resistance change) in the sensor, it assumes that the EGR isn't opening and will set a trouble code.

Yup no codes. I had the EGR code and that's why I changed it out. Now nothing but a shitty running engine.
New EGR valve? Some of those use an orifice washer to restrict the amount of exhaust fed into the intake. If that orifice is too large it will cause a lousy running engine.
Ok... The insturctions weren't very clear and I put the smaller one in.
It's running a little better before I installed that EGR valve so maybe that's it.
Seems weird the small difference in diameter of them washers would make that much difference??
