Go to pump gas and gas spews back out
I just bought my 89 Camaro. The first two times I put gas in it it worked perfectly fine but recently I can't even pump a full gallon of gas without it spewing the gas right back out from the entry point. What could be the cause of this?

The entry point as in your gas cap? Be more specific next time, i will tell you if it's doing what i read your fuel pump is shot and must be in reverse mode.

I just got my Camaro, 92 Z-28. I have to fill it up pretty slow or it will spew fuel back at me. I now stand off to the side and fill it up at either the first notch on the pump handle or less than that. I'd love to know a fix for this as well. The only thing that has worked for me is not putting the nozzle in all the way and not setting the pump on one of the auto notches.

I don't know if third gens have it or not, but some cars i have worked on have the equivalent of a ping pong ball not far down the tube...if the car overturns, the ball blocks the hole from gas leaking out.....it's worth looking into....my 87 will take the gas as fast as i put it in....maybe you need a different filler neck?

On newer cars, this happens for a couple of reasons:
- Emissions system is restricted (as small as a spider web will do this)
- Within the last 2 yrs many stations started using higher volume pumps.
- Filler neck is damaged (bent, kinked) or restricted (I seen a leaf cause this).

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked out the fuel vent valve, but it already looked pretty clean, in fact 3 tabs were already broken on it, so I think the previous owner cleaned it trying to resolve this issue. Went ahead and cleaned it again anyway but I doubt this will resolve the issue.
Filler neck did not look kinked or bent, and I did not see any restrictions as far as I could see inside it.
The previous owner told me he had replaced the fuel tank. Any possibility he may have not connected the vent valve tube correctly or kinked it?
If I have to drop the fuel tank to inspect it, I'll probably just live with it.
