car stalls out with pcv installed. runs fine without

hey guys just did an engine swap on 86 z28. swapped out the 305 for a gm good wrench 350 with 300hp and a 1406 edelbrock carb 600cfm. problem is the car stars right up when cold as soon as it warms up it stalls out turns out that if i pull the pcv valve leaving it hooked up to the tube it runs fine.replaced the pcv valve and still having the same issue. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/huh.gif

any ideas thanks

Where have you got the PCV supply air ( usually on the other valve cover ) connected to ?
Is the carb tuned for the engine?

If I am reading this correctly it sounds like the carb needs to be tuned.
If you pull the pcv line off the carb and create a vacuum leak what happens?

jabot - the supply is currently just a grommet with a hole, i guess i need to do something with that (it got over looked after installing engine. i have not drove car on street yet ) i pulled the pcv out from the tube and the car runs fine as soon as but as soon as i block the tube it will stall out.

vette oz- what kind of tunning like the idle screws or the a/f screws?

So letting more air in makes the engine run better so obviously your engine is running rich and the carb needs setting up correctly.
Have you done the basic idle adjustments on the carb ?

yes the idle screws have been adjusted but haven,t been able to adjust the a/f screws since the car has been stalling out i will have to try that unfortunately the car is not at my house, otherwise i would run out and adjust them now

Hate to say this but if you do not know what your timing and fuel pressure are and don't know how to set it your not going to be able to fix the car! Maybe ask a friend to help you out and get the info on timing and fuel pressure. If the timing is out or the fuel pressur is to high it can cause numerous issues like the one you are having.

sometimes those grommets are SEALED on the bottom. Make sure the hole is actually a hole all the way throguh

Good call
With a carb there should be a open breather on that cover or a line to the air filter

Take the grommet out , plug the PCV valve back in and see how it runs
