Vortec heads
Vortec heads
I have a 350 out of a 1985 gmc that I want to put my vortec heads on. Will the stock valve springs and rocker arms on my vortec heads be ok to run on me old 350 it's all stock right now and I don't plan on putting a cam in it for awhile. The vortec heads came off my 1998 chevy after it spun a main bearing

Re: Vortec heads
Yes the stock vortec items should handle a stock cam just fine.

Re: Vortec heads
I concur.
I dyno'd my L31 (Vortec) pickup with a bone stock valvetrain when it had ~140k on it and was surprised to see a nice smooth curve to 5000. No evidence of valve float.
Since the springs controlled the valves just fine with the HR cam, they'll certainly be fine for the FT cam in your '85.
