L98 Fuel mileage - per tank & mile?

So my Employer is sending me to Battle Creek, Michigan on the 2nd of February through the 13th. Unfortunately my daily beater has a worn out fuel pump, waiting on the new one to get here from Rock Auto, so I'll be driving the IROC up there. I'm not excited about it... snow and salt, no thank you.

But... What kind of fuel mileage can I expect? It's a bone stock L98 with 61k miles. How many miles per tank?

I've driven my LS1 cars on road trips but never a L98 third gen. Trying to plan my route and stops...

It's an auto with 3.27 gears.

I would put some wheel flaps on the rear quarter panels because that seems like the place that rusts the easiest when driving on salted roads. If its mostly highway driving, expect 22-27 mpg. I've managed 27 mpg on a hotcammed l98 but that's when I drive no more than 65 and going easy on accelerating.

Well online they post it giving 24 mpg hwy. But you should do a a tuneup and use premium grade gasoline. Regular grade will make your car respond awkwardly at least mine do that medium grade us fine also any thing but regular lol

I commute 75 miles rt a day. Driving the Camaro in good weather I get right at 23 mpg on reg. gas. Car runs fine on regular up to half throttle. I usually fill up at 200 -240 miles. Car has a 3;23 rear gear, basic stock with headers and catback exhaust. I'd rent a car before driving in snow and salted roads.

Well that's not bad but if you used o medium grade or better you would probably get 250+ miles per tank. Do your self a favor and just rent a car you don't want to get that beautiful car in a wreck in these snowy conditions. But Gerty that's not bad on regular I just don't use cus it makes my cars respond wierd I have to press the throttle twice as much as I have to with medium grade or better to pass some one on the road. And just about a week ago I was driving my parents 2005 suburban and it barely wanted to go up the driveway I know ours of a little more slanted than other driveways but my cars don't do that and then my mom told me she had put $20 of regular grade I was just like omg lol

I'm going to rent a beater... I thought about that same thing, if it was the summer then it wouldn't be an issue. But I don't want to get salt on it or risk having a wreck.

So the mileage seems to be close to the LS 4th gens... maybe not as good but not far off. I'm taking the car to our beach house in Port Charlotte in April for sure so at least I know what to expect when we go.

Fuel grade has zero effect on power and mileage fellas, fuel quality might but that's a different topic all together

I performance and milege mmmm yess sir it it affected. What is the octane grade for then? Milege definitely performance maybe a lil bit but still noticeable if you know your car on a regular basis

You guys are lucky. My fuel economy sucks. I guess I've never technically checked it. Just seems bad. Lol. Of course in 6 years I've only put about 4000 miles on it.

Put a hot t-stat in it, that'll boost your mileage if your old one is bad.

Why would I want a hot thermostat? I'd rather the engine run cooler. I have a replacement fan sensor that kicks the fans on really low anyhow. I couldn't care less about economy. I rarely drive the car.
