injector seating

im trying to put my engine back together but im not to sure about the injectors. I wiggled them in as far as I felt comfortable with but I don't want to break anything. are they supposed to be sitting flush on the manifold or is this how they are supposed to be? sorry for the large image I figured it would be easiest to see what im talking about. thanks in advance

Re: injector seating

When I replaced mine recently I was instructed to use dish soap on the o-rings and seat them with back and forth rocking motion instead of a twisting motion. I seated them in the rail first, positioned the rail and then pressed them flush with the manifold after they were all in place. Good luck.

Re: injector seating

Looks fine, about like they usually do...

Basically as long as the O-rings went in completely, it's all good.

Re: injector seating

I put brand new O rings on I should've looked at them before I pulled them to see how they were seated. I just to put it all back together just to find out fuel is leaking out.

Re: injector seating

I used motor oil, push in till they stop. I put in engine first per instructions, then wiggled the rail onto the injectors. I had one oring get pinched in the rail, when I fixed and reset I used a lot of oil to lube it. No leaks after that.

Strongly advise you to do a test before you reassemble plenum and runners.

Re: injector seating

I put it all back together already. I didn't get it to much better than the pics but I didn't see any leaks or anything ran the car for about 20-30 mins afterwards

Re: injector seating

You should be good then, I always have to do it twice ... LOL.

Once I bolted the rail on and hooked up fuel lines, hooked up batt and energized the fuel pump. Quik test.

I did have the Schrader valve go bad on the rail after the swap. Easy fix the extra large valves can get at autoparts store - they have universal AC tuneup kit that worked. Keep an eye on it.
